The bucket truck

As the tree trimmers cut back the fallen limbs from the wind damaged trees behind our home, I wondered how would they have reached the tops of the 20’ trees without the bucket truck.

I watched in amazement how it was done.

First the bucket truck had to be maneuvered into a place that it could be operated safely, free from danger of the cut limbs swinging back and injuring the cutter and uneven ground that would cause the truck to tip over and possibly crush others around in the area.

Next, there needed to be a skilled operator who controlled the cutting.

Watching them set up and noticing the make-up of the truck, I could see, at least the truck was welled equipped to handle the height of the trees with its extending capabilities to reach the tops of the trees.

My concern now moved to the awkwardness of how the truck was situated on unleveled ground. At any moment I thought the truck would tip over like a three scooped-top heavy ice-cream cone after one lick from a greedy tongue.

Before the man entered the bucket and began the process, four leveling hydraulic balancing arms with flat feet extended from the frame of the truck and secured it so there was no way of it tipping over.

Now, the expert tree trimmer got into the bucket, raised it to the level needed to make the first cuts and before you knew it, he had cut a 20’ tree down to the size of “Mini-Me”, Verne Troyer who is  2-foot-8” tall from the Austin Powers movie: The Spy Who Shagged Me.

During the whittling down of the trees, I was thinking how some of my sins had gotten as tall as and taller than those trees.

Realizing the potential of over growth and the possibility of being consumed and broken by sin, I needed to call on the Professional in the Bucket Truck.

He has the proper tools (So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11), He is always on solid ground (Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Matthew 7:24), there is no job too big or too small (For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws. James 2:10) and He will guarantee His services whenever needed (and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us. 2 Corinthians 1:22 NLT), also there is nowhere that he can’t go to do a job.

“If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.” Psalms 139:8 (NASB)

NO MATTER THE SIZE OF OUR SINS, GOD CAN TAKE THEM AWAY!
