It is with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude that I announce a truly remarkable milestone: the 50th anniversary of the Urban League of Broward County. Over the past five decades, we have not only grown but thrived—thanks to the unwavering support of dedicated staff members, community partners, loyal stakeholders, and, of course, the individuals and families who have walked this journey with us.
What began as a bold vision half a century ago has evolved into something far greater than we could have ever imagined. Our founders had a simple but powerful mission: to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Today, that mission remains at the heart of everything we do. We’ve seen incredible growth, innovation, and transformation over the years, but our commitment to serving our community has never wavered.
As we reflect on the achievements of the past 50 years, we honor the people who have made this journey possible—our employees, board members, volunteers, donors, and, of course, the people we serve. We also remember the tenacious leadership of Margaret Roach, the founder of the Urban League of Broward County, and those who followed in her footsteps. This anniversary is a celebration of being Rooted in Impact. It is a testament to the profound and lasting change that happens when we work together toward a common purpose.
In celebrating this milestone, we also look to the future with renewed energy and purpose. The challenges we face today are complex, but we are more determined than ever to create a lasting impact. Together, we will continue to work diligently and lead with integrity, innovation, empowerment, passion, commitment, and excellence – core values that have brought us this far.
