Some NFL tidbits on the heels of Super Bowl LIX.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devanta Smith joins an elite group of NFL players who have won the Heisman Trophy and a Super Bowl: Marcus Allen, Reggie Bush, Tony Dorsett, and Charles Woodson.

The NBA could perform a public service by eliminating the draft lottery and awarding the first pick to the Washington Wizards for no NBA team should be this bad and dysfunctional. Simply follow the NFL model – teams with the worst records get the first picks in order of finish.
The Miami HEAT are in first place with a losing record in the lowly Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. Soundly defeated by the ‘24 defending NBA champion Celtics at home on Monday night, and with the Jimmy Butler conundrum behind them, it’s time for the Heat to find its footing, reassess where they are compared to the better teams in the league and Eastern Conference and carve out a path forward. The grave concern is where the consistent scoring is going to come from. The Heat hierarchy is experienced and intelligent enough to figure it out.
South Florida’s best opportunity for a championship is the Florida Panthers, the defending Stanley Cup champions, currently sitting in first place in the Atlantic Division with a 34-20-3 record and a total of 71 points. The Panthers are led by star left winger Mathew Tkachuk, who has scored in 6 straight games and was named one of the 3 Star NHL Players of the Week.
The Florida Panthers entered the 4 Nations Face-Off break with two straight wins and a solid week from star forward Matthew Tkachuk.
Brandon Hagel (@TBLightning), Thatcher Demko (@Canucks) and Matthew Tkachuk (@FlaPanthers) have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” presented by GE.
