COVID-19 has ravaged the world for two years infecting 201 million people and causing approximately 4.27 million deaths. Miraculously, a vaccine was developed to lessen its spread as well as spiraling deaths. Unfortunately, there were no warnings that tens of millions of people would refuse vaccinations because of their dire unhealthy and deadly skepticism.
At this very moment, FOX news, along with other cable outlets, social platforms, and evangelicals, are spreading misinformation about the efficacy of the CDC endorsed vaccines. However, these actions and reactions are not necessarily new.
Historically, people for endless reasons have reacted with skepticisms when faced with matters involving race, health, politics, climate change, and war. Remember, people’s beliefs, unhealthy skepticism that the world was flat, nearly prevented discovery of the North American continent. However, Columbus’s healthy skepticism that the world was indeed round, changed history.
Unfortunately, America finds itself involved in a life and death dilemma regarding COVID-19 and unhealthy skepticism. How do you vaccinate all people eligible and willing as well as those eligible but unwilling due to their unhealthy skepticisms?
Obviously, this is a daunting task faced by President Biden. It’s made even more difficult by the spread of unhealthy skepticisms by Republican governors. Governor DeSantis’ aversions to the truths about the dangers of COVID-19 endangers all Floridians. His use of Executive Actions to stop preventative measures to reduce the deadly spread of COVID-19 are self-serving. Noticeably, his primary cynical motives are to bolster his Presidential aspirations for 2024. Is he not as dangerous as the virus?
President Biden’s Administration’s approach to addressing the unhealthy and deadly skepticisms of the unvaccinated has been too temperate; thus, lacking the visceral gut-wrenching shock caused by witnessing the needless deaths of those struggling to breath or to be comforted by loved ones. Sometimes, shock and awe can allay one’s unhealthy skepticisms.
These unhealthy skepticisms are now causing the deaths of our defenseless children, as our democracy is on life support. President Biden should call upon Hollywood Studios for help because there’s none better at telling a story that captures the attention of an audience!
A documentary produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman could easily change the course of vaccinating those shrouded with unhealthy and deadly skepticisms.
