We all may need a root canal

A Message From The Publisher

7 Crowds of people came to be baptized by John. But he said to them, “You are all snakes! Who warned you to run from God’s judgment that is coming? Luke 3:7(ERV)

As we begin this new year, I want us to seriously think about resolutions being made, and how to go about achieving them. We have come through a devastating year and not unlike years past when we have experienced tragic situations, or have enjoyed enlightening and marvelous new experiences. And yet, we find ourselves making new resolutions that are supposed to be for the betterment of ourselves and society.

I sat in church this past Sunday listening intensively to our pastor as he used his hermeneutical skills so eloquently to explain the scripture of Luke 3:7-14. Before this month gets too foregone, I would suggest that you might wanna read those scriptures. No matter how intensely I was listening and paying attention, were two words that slapped me into reality and brought his message right into my living room; and those two words were root canal.

I don’t know about you, but I had a truly baadd experience with the dentist that performed a root canal which left me miserable for about a month. The pain was so excruciating that I told the dentist he would never ever touch my mouth again.

Now you might be wondering what does a root canal have to do with this article well, if we are to get to the other side of where we want to be, the use of dental terms will work just fine. Some deep cleaning, and the possibility of a root canal will get us to where we need to be. When the damage is being done to our teeth, there are a few things that we can do to correct them.  Number one, we can take care of our teeth before anything begins to happen or submit ourselves to a deep cleaning, which could be painful but necessary and when all else fails the root canal might be in order before nothing else can be done.

So as we go into this new year, let’s take a good look at ourselves before we make any resolutions. We have to start with what the root of the problem is and nine times out of 10 the roof of the problem is us. Before we set ourselves up to fail, let’s get to the root problem. Most of us don’t like to accept the truth when it comes to dealing with our own situations. Until that’s done, we might as well not make any resolutions.

Perhaps in the morning when you get up to brush your teeth, take a good look at yourself. Before you make that resolution, promise yourself that you will start at the root of the problem. By doing that we can do ourselves a favor and divert some unnecessary situations before things really get bad.

We should begin to address every situation that comes up truthfully and honestly and ask ourselves what did I do to create this situation? I’m sure that if we would take that approach, we could eliminate the need for having to have that root canal or a permanent extraction. Once that distraction is done, there’s nothing, nothing left to do but replace it with false teeth.

Now, when it comes to you and your resolutions, you don’t want to be recognized as being false- do you?

Happy New Years  and get cleaned up before that root canal is needed!
