WE, UNITED TO END RACISM, are here to honor those who walked the Pettus Bridge 60 years ago and to signal our intention to carry on the work those soldiers so courageously and honorably engaged.
We are a collection of people from many different parts of the world who have committed to doing our part to end racism.
While the work on ending racism takes many forms and is engaged on many fronts, the work that we do is to provide the resources necessary to assist people to heal racial trauma.
Racial trauma has multiple effects on all of us. One of the most harmful and often unrecognized effects of racial trauma is that it interferes with our work for social justice, for racial justice, for economic justice, for climate justice. This trauma saps our health, our energy, our hopefulness, and can skewer our perspective, making us vulnerable to despair.
We recognize that this trauma harms all of us, both those who are directly targeted and those who are involved in the targeting. All of us must heal from racial trauma. We provide listening sessions that allow participants to begin the work of healing from this trauma.
