On Sunday the name of a whistleblower who leaked documents about the sweeping spy programs being implemented by U.S. intelligence was revealed in an interview with interview with The Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald .

Edward Snowden, 29, said he’s sacrificing everything to go public because he “can’t in good conscience allow the US government to destroy privacy, internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world.”

In addition to the revelations Snowden shared about the Goliath surveillance apparatus in America, he also gave us an eye opening glimpse into the dastardly tactics employed by the CIA in its attempts to secure American domination.

The story told by Snowden involved a Swiss banker and a drunk driving incident:

CIA operatives were attempting to recruit a Swiss banker to obtain secret banking information. Snowden said they achieved this by purposely getting the banker drunk and encouraging him to drive home in his car. When the banker was arrested for drunk driving, the undercover agent seeking to befriend him offered to help, and a bond was formed that led to successful recruitment.

“Much of what I saw in Geneva really disillusioned me about how my government functions and what its impact is in the world,” he says. “I realised that I was part of something that was doing far more harm than good.”

Snowden says that much of what he saw while working for the CIA in Geneva disillusioned him, prompting him to begin considering leaking documents.
