    William Dandy Fund awards scholarships

    William Dandy Fund awards scholarships

        The William Dandy Scholarship Fund, Inc. awarded seven recent high school grads with scholarships to assist them with furthering their college/university educations.

        The following graduates each received a $1,000 scholarship:

        Keandra Brown-Davis graduated from Plantation High School and will be attending Florida State University.  She plans to major in psychology.  Her mother is Ms. Karen Brown.

        Jordan J. Fields graduated from Blanche Ely High School and will be attending Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. He plans to major in marketing. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fields.

        Alesha Sands Foster graduated from Nova High school and will be attending the University of South Florida.  She plans to major in Pre-Medicine. Her mother is Ms. Carolyn Sands.

        Elizabeth L. Gonzalez graduated from Charles W. Flanagan High School and will be attending Florida State University. She plans to major in Psychology and Law. Her mother is Ms. Alina M Gonzalez.

        Nicholas Ries graduated from McFatter Technical School and will be attending Pace University in New York, New York.  He plans to major in Graphic Design. His parents are Mr. Matthew Ries and Mrs. Laura Ries.

        Kemisha Williams graduated from Plantation High School and will be attending Bethune Cookman University. She plans to major in Business. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kevyn Williams.

        Jasmine Wilson graduated from Dillard High School and will be attending Florida A & M University. She plans to major in Pre-Medicine.  Her mother is Ms. Kimberly Benford.

        The Scholarship Fund is named in memorial of William E. Dandy, a retired Administrator and educator with the Broward County School Board. Mr. Dandy was a lover of music, especially jazz, and a graduate of Florida A & M University.  After his retirement, the Broward County School Board named the William Dandy Middle School in his honor for his outstanding contributions to the education profession and his selfless service to the community.

        This is the Funds fifth year of awarding scholarships to our local youths. 

        The Chairman of the Board is Carolyn Dandy; other board members are Vice Chairman, Dr. Dorsey Miller; Recording Secretary, Pamela Adams; Corresponding Secretary, Barbara Sutton-Williams; Treasurer, Delores McKinley, Financial Secretary, Kathryn Fullins; Parliamentarian, Art Kennedy and Fundraising Chairman, Carlton B. Moore.
