    The Gantt Report

     By Lucius Gantt

If you know Black culture, you know that in most parts of the world, elders in communities are often looked at as dignified, solemn, and serious mature men and women.

Elders deserve respect and admiration for the wise advice and counsel they pass on to Black youth.

President Joe Biden recently announced his plan to run for reelection for a second term and immediately members of Congress, and others, immediately attacked his age saying Biden was too old and should step aside.

    I don’t like that!

I’m no friend of Joe Biden but, in my opinion, he’s done an adequate job so far in his Presidential term. At least, he’s “governing” and has successfully passed and signed some important legislation.

The idea that Biden is inappropriate and incompetent to serve a second term as President because he is more mature than younger men and women that want his job must be discredited.

The news networks and newspapers that you love point to Republicans as pushing the “too old” strategy, but the GOP is not alone. Some members of the Democratic party have also expressed feelings that Biden’s age is a problem.

Well, you need to be 35 years old to run for President of the United States, but who in the hell wants a neophyte with no experience and no political track record to deal with foreign affairs, wars, natural disasters, and more?

Some Gantt Report readers may not get what’s going on in Washington but let me dig a little deeper into this.

The Biden is too old argument has a racist tinge to it.

The age debate is not only about Biden, but it is also about Vice President Kamala Harris.

MAGA Republicans and MAGA Democrats have serious fears that the Black Cat, so to speak, will become the first female President of the United States if Biden cannot finish a second term if the President is reelected next year.

My hope is that Biden wins in 2024 and steps down in 2026 to allow Kamala to assume the Presidency for two years in 2026.

After Barack Obama served two Presidential terms, white nationalists and supremacists vowed that no other N-word would ever occupy the Oval Office again!

It is not unusual for Black people to parrot the words of political leaders they adore.

However, Boo Boo, the fool, knows that no white Democratic candidate will get more support from the Democratic Black base than “Delaware Joe”.

The suggestion that young and gay will generate more voter support than old and gray is not necessarily a winning suggestion.

Culture matters, experience matters, history matters, longevity matters, and wisdom matters.

Joe Biden has a ton of political experience. Any 35-year old Presidential candidate would merely be in political “pre-school”.

Finally, any Black business owner, politician, or agency head that bases his hiring on how young a potential employee is, rather than on who can help me or my company or who can deliver regardless of their age, that person’s success goals may not be reached.
