FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — The Fort Lauderdale Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., will tee it up for the 11th Annual Artis “Jack” Hall Kappa Golf Klassic on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Jacaranda Golf and Country Club located at 9200 West Broward Blvd., Plantation, Fla. The tournament benefits Broward County students by offering scholarships to Florida universities and colleges, supporting local youth mentoring programs and special educational needs. The tournament is hosted annually through the philanthropic arm of the fraternity, the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc.

It doesn’t matter if you are as good as a PGA professional or a weekend golfer, the four-man scramble format offers; “three” flights, a longest drive, closest to the pin, and putting contest. Free range balls and a golf clinic are offered prior to the start of the tournament and a dinner, a silent auction, award ceremony and raffle prizes conclude the tournament.

The 11th Annual Artis “Jack” Hall Kappa Golf Klassic is made possible due to the support of the members of the fraternity and generous sponsors including Congressman Alcee Hastings, Third Federal Bank, Magic City Tickets, The Dental Place, and many more. The tax-deductible contribution for an individual golfer is $110, $420 for a 4-person team and $25 awards dinner for non golfers. The Golf Klassic continues to be one of the most enjoyable and successful golf tournaments through sponsorship packages starting at just $200.

The Kappa Foundation provided over 15 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 in 2012-13 to Broward County students. The family of the late Artis “Jack” Hall and the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation will be awarding it’s first annual Artis “Jack” Hall Community Service Award. The award was established after the recent passing of Mr. Hall and will recognize individuals that work within the community by giving their time and talents that promotes positive ideals and upward social movement. The 2013 award will be presented during the awards ceremony banquet at the Kappa Golf Klassic. The 2013 Kappa Golf chairman Wendy Pognon stated, “our Golf Klassic has exceeded our initial goals and this is one of the many ways we seek to inspire members and continue to provide quality services in our community as well as building strong communities through scholarships”.
