Lauderhill community event will provide complimentary mammograms, massages, facials, manicures, food, entertainment and other surprises

LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Approximately 150 cancer fighters and survivors from across South Florida will be celebrated during the 6th Annual Ella’s Day: A Day of Pampering for Cancer Fighters & Survivors on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ken Thurston Inverrary Community Center in Lauderhill.
Created to remind individuals affected by cancer that they are seen, supported and beautiful, Ella’s Day provides attendees with an afternoon dedicated entirely to their comfort, wellness and joy. Guests will receive complimentary food, massages, facials, manicures, mammograms and entertainment, along with additional services and special surprises.
More than a traditional community event, Ella’s Day recognizes that the effects of cancer often extend far beyond physical health. Treatment can also affect a person’s emotional well-being, confidence, relationships and sense of identity. Ella’s Day creates a welcoming environment where attendees can step away from appointments, treatments and everyday responsibilities and simply enjoy being cared for and celebrated.
The event was founded by SouthPromo.com CEO Jessica Williams in memory of her grandmother, Ella Mae Beasley, who was diagnosed with breast cancer twice and ultimately lost her battle with the disease.
“During the summer of my ninth-grade year, my only job was to sit with my grandmother every day, keep her company and provide as much comfort as I could,” Williams said. “That time with her changed my life. I watched how cancer affected the way she looked at herself in the mirror, and I learned that the disease can touch a person’s confidence and identity as deeply as it affects the body. Ella’s Day was created so other fighters and survivors would hear a message my grandmother needed to hear: You are not alone. We see you, and you are beautiful.”
This year’s celebration is being presented in partnership with City of Lauderhill Commissioner S. “Ray” Martin and Susan G. Komen. In addition to pampering and entertainment, complimentary mammogram screenings will be offered on-site to help make potentially life-saving breast health services more accessible within the community.
The need for trusted, community-based health services remains urgent. Susan G. Komen reports that Black women face a nearly 40% higher breast cancer mortality rate than white women, with health care access, affordability, delays in follow-up care and other systemic barriers contributing to the disparity.
“Ella’s Day represents the kind of compassionate and responsive community programming that deserves our support,” Commissioner Martin said. “This event does more than raise awareness—it provides meaningful services, creates access to health resources and gives cancer fighters and survivors a space where they can feel supported, encouraged and celebrated. Partnering with Ella’s Day and bringing this experience to the City of Lauderhill is an important way for us to show residents that their health, dignity and quality of life matter.”
By placing mammograms and breast health resources alongside beauty, relaxation and entertainment, Ella’s Day helps create a comfortable setting where attendees can receive care without feeling as though they are entering a traditional medical environment.
