ATLANTA – Bethune-Cookman Men’s and Women’s Basketball each had a student-athlete named to the 2025 HBCU All-Star Game in San Antonio, Texas, taking place Sunday, April 6, at Freeman Coliseum.
For B-CU, Jesus Carralero Martin will participate in the men›s game, while Kayla Clark will don the Maroon and Gold in the women›s game.
The event is the fourth annual men’s game, and the women’s event is enjoying its inaugural season. The event coincides around the time for the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Four events, respectively. To be eligible, student-athletes must be seniors on their current team and exhausted eligibility.
The announcement occurred on the evening of Monday, March 17, as Travis L. Williams (CEO) joined Tolly Carr of HBCU Gameday for the live roster reveal.
Jesus Carralero Martin transferred into Bethune-Cookman during the summer of 2024 from Missouri, and a native of Malaga, Spain.
He was a workhorse for Head Coach Reggie Theus and the B-CU men›s team throughout the 2024-25 campaign, finishing atop the team in steals (43) and blocked shots (53), second in assists (91), third in rebounding (167), and third in free throw percentage (.750).
He became just the fourth player in school history to record a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists at home in a win over Grambling State on March 3.
He was a key piece in B-CU advancing to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive season.
Kayla Clark, a four-year letter winner for Head Coach Janell Crayton del Rosario, finished the year scoring a season-high 256 points, and pulling down 220 rebounds (7.1 per game), all while handing out 59 assists and registering a team-high 32 blocks from her center position on the court.
Additionally, she had four double-doubles on the year for the Wildcats. The Miami native finished her career with 905 points and 877 rebounds, respectfully, adding 88 blocks and 136 steals, defensively. As a team, Bethune-Cookman returned to the SWAC Women’s Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2023.
