     In this time you should think about building your relationship with God, family, and even friends. God puts us in precarious predicaments sometimes, but God will never give us something we can’t handle.

Melanie L. Campbell, President & CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) and National Convener of the Black Women’s Roundtable (BWR) offered the following thoughts about the passing of Rev. Joseph E. Lowery, who was a co-founder of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Georgia Coalition for the Peoples Agenda and other civil rights and social justice organizations. Dr. Lowery was known as the “Dean of the Civil Rights Movement.”

     When I took office, I made it a priority to restore public trust and strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and the communities we serve. To be successful as a public safety agency, we must hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
