Former NYPD officer Ray Wood was, “tasked with ensuring that Malcolm X’s security detail was arrested days prior to the assassination, guaranteeing Malcolm X didn’t have door security while at the Audubon Ballroom, where he was killed on Feb. 21, 1965,” says Attorney Benjamin Crump during a press conference at the former at the old Audubon, the site where Malcolm X was assassinated. The venue has since been renamed The Shabazz Center.

     We applaud the event for letting the youth of Delray speak their truths. It’s not every day that law enforcement and youth get an opportunity to have a mutual exchange. Kudos to the city of Delray Beach for keeping the community actively involved and engaged. Let us remember the words of American historian and writer Mary Frances Berry, “ When you have police officers who abuse citizens, you erode public confidence in law enforcement. That makes  the job of good police officers unsafe”.

     President Biden has clearly demonstrated that his first 100, days in Office will be very productive. Thus far, he has signed 28, Executive Orders, four (4) substantive proclamations, and initiated a wide range of other administrative actions. Most importantly, his commitment to save the Soul of America and to remain engaged with the people will not be deterred by anyone and certainly not by his reverence of bipartisanship.

     With Black health in alarming disparities, Black folks are waiting, and taking their time, and many may decide not to take the vaccine at all. Many people and many Blacks believe this is a personal choice, and no one should be pressured to take the vaccine.

     Voters showed the strength of our democracy by showing up in record numbers to cast ballots to defeat an incumbent president. And voters in Georgia, led by Black voters, made history by electing a progressive Black preacher and Jewish filmmaker to the U.S. Senate.
