Rick Ross is thinking of ways he can help African artists. He announced his plan to expand the Maybach Music Group (MMG) empire to Africa in a new project. This is happening after a recent trip to Africa which was some sort of eye-opener to the challenges that artists in the continent go through.
Ross was empathetic to the kind of lifestyle of people in Africa, saying he was moved to go visit the slums and places that even the police never wanted to go.
In a video posted on Instagram, Ross said, “I just woke up here on Easter, and I just wanted to share love and just want to rep. I feel like it’s not enough American artists shedding light on Africa, supporting African artists.”
The Biggest Boss founded MMG that’s home to significant artists like Meek Mill, Wale, and Ross, among others. As the empire expands its reach to Africa, more African artists will be incorporated.
After spending some time in Nigeria, Ross says he noticed “so much talent and so many fly artists and dope performers that it’s official. Rick Ross will be signing two artists. Better believe it from parts of Africa, so let’s stay in touch ; let’s build.”
Ross was sure to spend some time in Angolan streets with fans whom he called family. He sent shout-outs to some African artists who have caught his eye for their outstanding musical talents.
“I want to shout some of ya’ll out,” said the “Aston Martin Music” lyricist. “I’ma start with Hamisa, Valery Ayena, Stanley Enow, Blanche Bailly.” While in Angola, the 46-year-old also clarified his desire to support African artists.
Ross’ actions to visit the slums and streets of Africa and intentions to support them moved other artists like Kevin Hart, The Rock, Killer Mike, and Jim Jones, among others. The artists appraised Ross and sent in some funds to support people in need in the areas he visited.
Ross said he will sign two African artists to MMG this year to move the African music industry to another level.
