Tragedy strikes: Sports bar collapses during Heat/Spurs game, leading to serious injury

    By Black Like Moi

Nobody knows exactly why a sports deck collapsed during the NBA finals, but now everyone is starting to worry about being sued. The collapse led to the serious injuries of at least two people in the city of Miami and police are investigating the incident.

All of this happened during the recent battle between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Shuckers Bar & Grill will surely get a visit from safety inspectors after this one. People fell into the Biscayne Bay as a result.

In total, 24 people were injured in the incident involving the deck, which was about 7 feet above the water.

Police said everyone had been rescued from the water, and all those involved in the accident had been accounted for.

The collapse occurred on Thursday evening just minutes before the halftime, according to local media.

Fire engines and rescue divers rushed to the scene at 79th Street Causeway in North Bay Village.

Helicopters circled over the bay as emergency services carried people away on stretchers, the Miami Herald reports.

A customer told the news-paper she and a friend were watching the game when the structure collapsed within a split second.

“There was a crack, and then we were in the water,” Crystal Infante was quoted as saying.
