      FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Broward Education Foundation hosted the Broward Teachers Union 27th Annual Innovative Teacher IDEA EXPO Presented by Office Depot on Saturday, January 27 at Fort Lauderdale High School.

    Horacio Sanchez, President and CEO of Resiliency, Inc. was the dynamic keynote speaker who shared techniques on how educators can apply neuroscience to improve educational outcomes.

    Attendees had opportunities to interact with more than 35 grant-winning innovative teachers in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) who displayed projects illustrating effective and dynamic teaching strategies. All participants received access to links featuring each project that includes course outlines, lesson plans, resource lists, student worksheets and tools to help adapt projects to their classroom.

    Broward Education Foundation awards monetary grants to innovative teachers who have developed classroom curriculum that engages and propels BCPS students to succeed and increase their learning outcomes. Funding for these grants is made possible through public-private partnerships, business and community leaders, and contributors to the Education First Employee Giving Campaign. Adapter grants are available for BCPS teachers who want to adapt these award-winning programs in their classrooms.

    In addition to Broward Teachers Union and Office Depot, other partners in the Broward Education Foundation Innovative Teacher Idea Expo include the State of Florida District Education Foundation’s matching grants program, Education First Employee Giving Campaign, City of Hollywood, Bank of America, BrightStar Credit Union, JM Family Enterprises, Museum of Discovery & Science, State Farm, Regions Bank, Grand Canyon University, Saint Thomas University, Seacoast Bank, University of West Florida and WahooBay.
