MixTape Band Rewinds to the ‘80s & Artist Florencia Clement de Grandprey Explores the Unseen
Old Town Untapped is back with a bountiful season filled with electrifying music, phenomenal art experiences, and so much more. The vibrant ‘first Fridays’ Street festival returns with live music by Mix Tape, one of South Florida’s premier 80s rock & pop cover band, and a stunning exhibition by our October Artist of the Month, Florencia Clement de Grandprey from our new Artist in Residence(AiR) class at Bailey Contemporary Arts Center. This month the spotlight shines on the incredibly talented Florencia Clement de Grandprey, whose captivating artworks will be featured in the exhibition Beyond What the Eyes See, which runs through October 31, 2024.
This evocative exhibition of paintings invites viewers to explore the hidden depths and unseen dimensions of our everyday experiences. This collection of large format mixed media figurative paintings transcends the surface, revealing intricate layers of emotion and imagination. Florencia’s innovative use of diverse backgrounds, such as fabric and rugs, enhances the depth and richness of each composition. Her passion for blending the preexisting patterns of these backgrounds with her images serves as a metaphor for life, illustrating that there are always more layers than what meets the eye.
About Florencia Clement de Grandprey:
Florencia, a self-taught mixed media figurative artist, draws inspiration from the interplay between the seen and unseen. Originally from Spain and having lived in the vibrant Fort Lauderdale area for the past 20 years, she is deeply influenced by the diverse cultural tapestry and the natural beauty of the many countries she’s lived in. Since embarking on her full-time painting journey in late 2014, she has been driven by a desire to capture the essence of human experience and the hidden narratives that shape our lives. Through her work, she challenges viewers to look beyond the obvious and uncover the deeper truths.

MixTape seamlessly blends high-quality entertainment with rock star style, ensuring audiences are constantly grooving, singing, and returning for more. The band comprises five seasoned musicians with extensive live performance, recording, and touring experience, having shared the stage with notable acts like Loverboy, 3 Doors Down, Warrant, Ratt, Bret Michaels, Fuel, Tonic, Bowling for Soup, Kip Winger, Night Ranger, and Taylor Dayne. The lineup features Lindsay Giova on vocals, keyboards, and percussion, Mike Elmore on guitars and vocals, Steve Kaminer on guitars, keyboards, and vocals, Steve Mulholland on bass and vocals, and Paco Camara on drums, percussion, and vocals.
