Rachel Jeantel: Trayvon Martin was ‘calm, chill, and loving.. not a thug’

    By Your Black World

The prosecution’s star witness in the George Zimmerman trial spoke to CNN’s Piers Morgan Monday during an exclusive interview. Rachel Jeantel, a friend of Trayvon Martin’s and the last person to speak to him alive, set the record straight about her deceased friend, defense attorney Don West, and how she feels about Zimmerman’s acquittal.

Jeantel, one of the most controversial witnesses of the trial, said she had a feeling that the verdict “was going to be guilty.” Asked how she felt about Zimmerman’s acquittal, she says she was “disappointed, upset and angry” and called the juror’s assessment of the trial “B.S.”

When Morgan asked Jeantel to describe her friend Trayvon Martin, she described the 17- year-old as a “calm, chill, loving person” who she never saw be-have aggressively. She admitted that her 17-year-old friend smoked weed, but added that “weed don’t make him go crazy,” and “it just makes him go hungry.”

Defense attorney Don West also sparked controversy by yelling at the teen and putting her through a rigorous cross examination.

When asked about Don West, Jeantel said she didn’t want to say anything bad about him because she’s a Christian and because her parents taught her to respect her elders. How-ever, Jeantel did call West’s daughters “dumb blondes” for their mocking of her on Instagram.

Jeantel also told Morgan that she doesn’t speak well because of a dental condition. When asked by Morgan if she’d ever been bullied over the condition, Rachel evoked laughter from the CNN audience when she answered back, “Look at me.”
