We need wise and responsible leadership, something sorely lacking in the reckless governance we have seen. The future of the nation depends on leaders who prioritize wisdom over impulsiveness, truth over misinformation, and service over self-interest.
Recent revelations about a group chat involving war plans have underscored what Sen. Mark Warner describes as a “pattern of sloppy security” within the Trump administration. This pattern, alongside erratic decision-making, and a disregard for established norms, paints a troubling picture of governance that prioritizes spectacle over security, chaos over clarity, and self-interest over national stability.
A Legacy of Security Breaches
To find out that sensitive military discussions occurred in a loosely monitored chat is another example of a White House that is treating security protocols as an inconvenience rather than a necessity. From the mishandling of classified documents, Pentagon accessibility without top level security clearance to reports of casual, unsecured conversations about national defense, the Trump administration repeatedly shows a reckless disregard for security measures meant to protect the country as one whose stock market value continues to drop.
Trump’s decision to revoke the security clearances of Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and others follows this same erratic pattern—retaliatory, politically motivated, and largely representative. Rather than ensuring national security, such actions often serve to enhance power and silence dissention. Security clearances should be a matter of professional assessment, not a tool for political retribution or payola.
Confusing Orders and Erratic Governance
Adding to the dismay, Trump’s approach to power has often been marked by confusing directives and abrupt purges. His efforts to eliminate federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs illustrate this. Beyond being a political attack on progress, these measures create uncertainty and instability within the federal workforce, leaving agencies unclear on directives and fearful of backlash. Leadership by impulse and injustice, rather than careful policymaking, weakens institutions and undermines public trust.
The Danger of Misinformation and Fearmongering
Meanwhile, on the international stage, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has directly refuted claims of a “white genocide” in his country, dismissing it as a false narrative. Yet, billionaire Elon Musk continues to amplify this misinformation, which fuels unnecessary fear and stokes racial division. In an era when truth is under constant attack, world leaders must challenge dangerous rhetoric and hold those in power accountable for spreading baseless claims.
Here in the US, Trump’s sycophants continue their exploitation of fear. His warnings about his planned mass deportations, “the next one they take could be you”, suggests the dangerous implications of his policies. The threat is not a joke; it is a real and present danger for millions of immigrants, many of whom support daily to the economy and communities across this country.
Exploiting Faith for Profit
Adding to moral erosion, Trump’s spiritual advisor, Pastor Paula White-Cain, is now promising divine rewards in exchange for cash donations. RightWingWatch exposed a video in which White-Cain offers seven “Blessings of Passover” to those willing to contribute $1,000 before Easter. This blatant commercialization of faith is both exploitative and alarming. Religion should inspire ethical leadership, not serve as a tool for financial gain and political manipulation. We are truly “headed to hell in a hand basket.”
The Need for Accountability and Stability
What emerges from these stories is a deeply troubling pattern—one in which security is treated carelessly, policy is dictated by impulse, misinformation spreads unchecked, and faith is commodified. The American people deserve leadership that prioritizes stability, truth, and ethical governance. As Trump positions himself for another run at the presidency, voters must critically assess whether a return to his concepts of MAGA is truly what the country needs—or whether it’s time to demand a higher standard of leadership.
