FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – For the seventh year, Legacy magazine has chosen an elite group of women for its 25 Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Business distinction. Among the honorees are top South Florida attorneys, public officials, entrepreneurs and Jasmin Shirley, vice president of Broward Health Community Health Services (BHCHS).

The honorees for this award were selected by a professional selection committee comprised of business leaders from South Florida.

“I am truly humbled by the recognition and thankful for the opportunity and support provided by Broward Health to improve the health and wellness of our community,” said Shirley.

BHCHS encompasses 30 facilities, including primary care centers, school-based health centers, a home health and hospice agency, an infusion group, urgent care centers and physician practices.

Under Ms. Shirley’s leader-ship, BHCHS expanded its operations to implement the first “Medical Home” model of care for children in foster care; implements the only home health pediatric palliative care program in Broward County; developed and implements the Breast Cancer Patient Navigator Program; expanded Disease Management services to include Sickle Cell Disease and the “Families in Training” (FIT) program to address childhood obesity, which incorporates holistic interventions that involve the entire family. In 1985, Ms. Shirley was instrumental in developing the first service network of healthcare and community organizations to address HIV/AIDS in Broward County.

Legacy will be published on Monday, Sept. 10, and will be distributed in the Business section of The Miami Herald.

On Friday, Sept. 14, Legacy magazine will host an Awards Reception for this year’s honorees hosted by television anchor Jawan Strader, from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Banker’s Club on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. The cost will be $100 per person.

For more information on Legacy and its honorees, please contact Dexter Bridgeman at (305) 528-4277.
