    Reported by Kacie Whaley

Were you a fan of the charming 2005 romantic comedy Hitch? Fox is now working with Will Smith to bring fans a small screen version of the film every week.

Fox is developing a television show based on the box office hit movie that starred Will Smith as smooth-talking match maker Alex ‘Hitch’ Hitchens who was hired to help clumsy Albert Brennaman (played by King of Queens‘ Kevin James) win the girl of his dreams. Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith will both serve as executive producers, with Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont as the script-writers, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The show is being described as a half-hour workplace comedy revolved around dating and sexual politics.

This will be an addition to a list of television shows and films that the Smiths have produced with their company, Overbrook Entertainment.

The Hollywood power-couple created and produced the CW comedy, All of Us, that ran from 2003-2007 and starred Duane Martin as an entertainment reporter dealing with the challenges of dating after divorcing his son’s mother.  The company also co-produces the syndicated daytime talk show, The Queen Latifah Show.

The films produced by Overbrook have generated about $3.o billion at the box office, according to its website.  Those films include Ali, Hitch, Pursuit of Happyness, I Am Legend, Hancock, The Secret Life of Bees, and After Earth.

There have been several movies adapted into television shows in the past, and while they have not all been successful, some of them proved to be great ideas.  The 1970s sitcom What’s Happening! was actually based off of the 1975 classic film, Cooley High. Although the show only lasted three seasons, it has proven to be memorable, much like the long-running drama In the Heat of the Night, based on the 1967 film of the same name.
