The Dynamic Ladies of the Broward County Alumnae Chapter (BCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will kick off their 42nd Annual May Week celebration on May 24, 2020.
May Week is a national program of Delta Sigma Theta that was created in 1920 to highlight academic achievements and to emphasize the importance of higher education in the Black community. This year, the program will be a virtual red-carpet event because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“COVID-19 will not interfere with our commitment to recognize these amazing students and their achievements,” said Tracy Barnswell, BCAC president.
“As we celebrate our event titled “In Pursuit of Excellence,” we must also salute the parents of these outstanding students. Congratulations on a job well done.”
The Florida Lottery, which has been funding education since its inception in 1988, is a proud sponsor of this year’s May Week Scholarship Program. To date, the Florida Lottery has contributed $36 billion to enhance public education in Florida, with more than $9.4 billion going to public colleges and universities.
The Bright Futures Scholarship Program, primarily funded by the Florida Lottery, assists students in pursuing postsecondary educational and career goals. It has enabled more that 840,000 students to attend college on the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

We look forward to a longstanding partnership in this endeavor.”
BCAC, in partnership with Delta Education and Life Development Foundation Inc. (DELDF), will present $52,000 in scholarships to these exceptional students.
