    By Jenean Way

My passion for politics and public service began in my youth, when I served on the student counsel and the Young Democrats (Created by the Fl Assoc of Deputy Sheriffs). Thereafter, I served in various leadership capacities with various political organizations, for many years. Community Service is still an integral part of my life; today I currently serve on Lauderhill’s Planning & Zoning, and Affordable housing Boards, the Broward County Marine Advisory Board and the West ken Lark Homeowners Association Board.

My pursuit of higher learning began at Doughton Jr. College where I majored in business. Then I went on to attend City Career College to further hone my skills.

My career path to serve and protect was a natural progression for me because my father served with BSO for 42 years, which greatly influenced my career choices over the past 30 years with BSO, Homeland Security, and as Director of Security Operations for a successful Property Management Company.

Now I am looking to marry both my love of politics and service to make a greater impact and bring lasting change to my community by running for Lauderhill City Commissioner, Seat 1. As you may know there are many pressing issues in my community. Some of my top priorities to tackle  include creating jobs, affordable housing, and reducing crime. Together, I know we can build a better Lauderhill and I’m seeking your support, but I need your support.

Note: Outside of the work place I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Kelsey, who is a medical student at FAU, mysteries, and I’m also a history buff.
