     While many people spent Mother’s Day celebrating their moms with a nice meal or day out on the town, Barbra Ellis and her daughter Destiney Ellis shared a moment that the two will never forget. After navigating the challenges of challenging work and serving on the frontlines during a global pandemic, both mom and daughter have graduated from Henderson State University, obtaining their Master of Science Degrees in Nursing.

   Consider the selflessness of 5 Boynton Beach residents to stop a moving car and rescue one of their coworkers. The driver, Laurie Rabyor, spoke with WPTV and said she was filled with gratitude and joy after the good Samaritans came to her aid. She became unconscious May 5 at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Woolbright Road in Boynton Beach. A medical emergency made her have a seizure while driving into the intersection.

     On the heels of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s annual weekend of dining and drinking, a new event is in the works. This one promises a spotlight on the culinary diversity and talents of the Black community.

     Sci-Fi fans woke up to a pleasant surprise Sunday morning with the announcement of the newest actor to take up the mantle of The Doctor on the hit BBC show “Doctor Who.” Rwandan actor Ncuti Gatwa will step up to the plate as the 14th doctor.  

Cook, well-known for her work on racial and gender equality, won Senate confirmation as the first Black woman to serve on the Fed Board in the agency’s 109-year history.

Caleb Campbell and Kouraje Johnson of the University of Fort Lauderdale Track & Field turned in All-American finishes at the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by Greenville University in Greenville, Ill., this past weekend. Campbell, a junior from Miramar, Fla., turned in a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.12 seconds to earn All-American honors in the event. Brennen Bargesser of Bethal (Ind.) won the race with a time of 48.60 seconds.
