     Dr. Bridget had the vision of creating a book that inspired and educated others about cannabis and CBD through storytelling. Even though her background is highly focused in evidence-based medicine, what others find inspirational are the testimonies of everyday people, not the research numbers. Another motivation is that she knows sharing stories is a healing process for the author. “There is a lot of struggle, shame and guilt in the cannabis experience and being able to provide an opportunity for others to resolve their difficulties and celebrate their empowerment is meaningful for me as a physician and a life coach.”

    History Fort Lauderdale, celebrating 60 years as a proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present a community screening of the new documentary film, “She Had a Dream: Eula Johnson’s Fight to Desegregate Broward County.” The film was locally directed and edited by Janay Joseph, NSU intern and Tara Chadwick, History Fort Lauderdale’s curator of exhibitions.

     Featuring a POWER lineup of women, confirmed attendees include Congresswoman Frederica Wilson; Kelly Price; Trina; and Yoyo. This life-changing experience will encourage an evening of networking and powerful conversation for all guests alike. The star-studded event has honored the likes of Remy Ma, Lisa Raye, Faith Evans, and Betty Wright, to name a few, in the past. Stay tuned – this year’s surprise celebrity talent and performances will be announced closer to the date.

     Nicki Minaj claims that rapper Lil Wayne’s remarks about her body drove her decision to have butt injections. Nicki said on ‘The Joe Budden Podcast’ that Lil Wayne used to mock her about having a little ass while hanging out with him at the beginning of her career.

      While the world has been focused on the growing numbers of COVID-19 causalities, the media has somewhat ignored the long-term educational and economic impacts of the pandemic – especially for Black students. Although there has been some attention given to the disparities between Black Americans and other groups contracting the virus, it is not an exaggeration to say that the Black community will be recovering from the impact of COVID-19, health wise, economically, and educationally for at least the next two decades.

     A group of eminent international human rights lawyers on Wednesday stated that they’ll petition the United Nations on behalf of Black refugees who’ve been discriminated against while attempting to flee Ukraine.

     This week in Selma, Alabama, that story continues with North Carolina A&T State student Aigné Taylor. The senior, who is double majoring in political science and sociology, spent her spring break being a part of the 57th anniversary of one of the most pivotal events in American history.

Join the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) on March 25-27, 2022, for the expanded original play, Head Above Water: The Life of Esther Rolle based on the life of award-winning actress and Broward County native, Esther Rolle. Held in celebration of Women’s History Month and part of AARLCC’s activities celebrating their 20thAnniversary of Black Excellence, this special drive-in outdoor performance will be held at AARLCC, located at 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.

   The Gantt Report Book Club has only one member, me. I thought the club title would have some significance because when Oprah Winfrey talked about books in her book club, many of the writings subsequently became best sellers and made top 10 lists in newspapers like The New York Times.
