The North Broward County (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, one of 299 chapters of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women, announces its 2025-2027 leadership board and upcoming celebration of its 30th Anniversary. The North Broward County (FL) Chapter continues to serve the residents of Broward County through its five facets (Services to Youth, International Trends and Services, The Arts and National Trends and Services).  They will host five impact days, focusing on each facet leading up to its Gala on November 8, 2025 at Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale.

A groundbreaking study led by Tuskegee University and Florida A&M University (FAMU) sheds new light on the environmental and economic impacts of preharvest sugarcane burning in South Florida’s Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA). Conducted in response to longstanding concerns from local residents, the research reveals that while burning does produce fine particulate matter, its overall contribution to regional air pollution is minimal and far outweighed by the economic and social benefits of the sugar industry in the region.

       Mr. George, who completed both his high school and college work at Morris Brown, graduating in the Class of 1930, was a stellar performer at guard on both the Purple Wolverine basketball and football teams during the late 1920’s. He did his graduate work at Atlanta University and received his masters degree from New York University.  

     In the NFL, legacy often travels through bloodlines, and for DJ Williams, that legacy runs deep through HBCU history. The son of Doug Williams, the first Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, DJ is carving out his own path in the league. But it’s not one forged under center, but rather with a headset. The former Grambling quarterback has officially been named the full-time quarterbacks coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
