    We are all familiar with the trope, “You must work twice as hard to be equal.” Mission Specialist Mae’s accomplishments, like her acceptance into NASA after outperforming over 2,000 applicants, really makes you wonder how she managed it. Must have been a DEI selection, obviously.

  The music and entertainment world reacted in shock and sorrow after the tragic death of Angie Stone, the pioneering singer-songwriter and hip-hop trailblazer who was killed in a car accident early Saturday morning in Montgomery, Alabama. She was 63.

       “Shared Legacies” delves into the history of Black-Jewish cooperation in America and revisits the profound alliance that emerged during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s when Jewish leaders stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and others to advocate for racial equality and harmony. Through historical materials and first-hand accounts, the documentary illuminates pivotal moments in history while confronting the fading memory of this powerful partnership in recent years.

   The Founding Fathers envisioned a democracy upheld by virtuous citizens, yet their fears of its fragility have come true. The “political red line” serves as a metaphor for leaders who overstep moral, legal, and ethical boundaries, often leading to their downfall.

The Greater Miami (FL), Dade County (FL) and Miami-Biscayne Bay (FL) Chapters of The Links, Incorporated will hold a Black Family Wellness Expo: Pathways to Health on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199 Street in Miami Gardens from 9:00am to 3:00pm, in an effort to reduce health and economic disparities and to save and improve lives in the Black community.  This effort in Miami Dade County is aimed at addressing Pediatric and Senior/Family Wellness, Women’s and Men’s Health that negatively impact(s) the health and quality of life for many in this community.  The local event is a part of The Links, Incorporated’s nationwide Black Family Wellness Expos being held across the country on March 15, 2025,[1] which aims to leverage its entire membership in the effort to improve outcomes for Black families.

A legal battle over the ownership of a historic community landmark began on Monday as the trial between the Grand Lodge of the Elks and Sader Investments, LLC commenced. Presided over by Judge Haines, the case concerns the disputed sale of land belonging to the Pride of Fort Lauderdale Elks Lodge 652, a long-standing pillar of the Black community.

        In April 1966, Senator J.W. Fulbright, Chair of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, gave a remarkable and highly-publicized speech at Johns Hopkins University, condemning the U.S. role in the Vietnam War. Warning of “the arrogance of power,” Fulbright argued that “we are not living up to our capacity and promise as a civilized power for the world.” It turned out to be a momentous speech, enraging President Lyndon Johnson and providing a rallying point for U.S. critics of the conflict.

       “She was a warrior in the truest sense of the word and activist extraordinaire.”  Those words are from Reverend Al Sharpton who is celebrating the life and activism of the iconic Dr. Hazel Nell Dukes, civil rights activist and leader within the ranks of the New York and National Board of the NAACP.  Dukes 92  passed away this morning in  New York.
