     The best thing about diplomacy between government leaders is that it may ease tensions. The worst thing is that it doesn’t resolve the disputes between them, making matters worse. Both aspects of diplomacy have been on view lately in East Asia.

     A big part of the naysayers’ messaging strategy is to inflame fears about economic and social change. Tuning into networks like FOX News and One America News Network, it is not uncommon to get a taste of the disinformation campaign against EVs and other clean energy solutions. They wrongly portray policies meant to reduce carbon emissions and other pollution – especially cars and consumer appliances – as an attack on consumers “freedom.” They also appeal to a general nostalgia for “the good old days” when no one was asked to think about energy efficiency or climate warming pollution. 

     Once again Xi had to demonstrate loyalty to Russia in its war in Ukraine while also showing sensitivity to European commercial interests and US pressure on China to limit its military support of Putin’s war. At least on the surface, Xi came through for Putin: He promised to expand all manner of China-Russia ties, fully support the “comprehensive strategic partnership,” increase “strategic coordination,” and support Russia’s “special military operation” (not war) in Ukraine.

      Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects thousands of individuals across the country. It can impact multiple parts of the body and cause severe internal damage. There isn’t a cure for this disease, and it imposes a significant emotional and financial toll on family members of people with Lupus. The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) Georgia Chapter supports everyone affected by this issue. The organization offers assistance to those in need through various channels. May is Lupus Awareness Month, and the organization has planned activities for the rest of the month to allow locals to show their support for the Lupus community.

     U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Miami) and U.S. Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-California), are sponsoring The High School Voter Empowerment Act, which would allow public high schools to be used as voter registration sites, hoping to boost young people’s voting participation and civic engagement.
