U.S. Olympic officials are appealing a court ruling that resulted in American gymnast Jordan Chiles being asked to return the bronze medal she won in the Paris Olympics floor exercise.

       But the diversity of the women’s gymnastics team has captured the world’s attention, given the historic exclusion of women of color from the sport.

   “I am thrilled that this year, we were able to support six SJGC students in attending the NABJ conference. For many of them, this was their first time going to the convention. From the career fair to the various workshops and receptions, they took it all in. Going to NABJ not only expanded their immediate knowledge about the industry, but it helped them to forge relationships that will last a lifetime,” said Lowe, who was a panelist, along with former SJGC Division Director Dorothy Bland, Ph.D., on the session “Next Gen Impact on Media and the Local News Scene.” 

Chicago has transformed into one of the most fortified locations in the world this summer as the Windy City plays host to the Democratic National Convention (DNC). With the influx of thousands of delegates, media personnel, and political dignitaries, the city has seen unprecedented security measures involving the Secret Service and state and local police, turning downtown Chicago into a near-impenetrable fortress.

     Inflation in the United States showed promising signs of easing in July, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) falling below 3% for the first time in over three years. Democrats from all political backgrounds came together to honor President Biden’s legacy, which includes unwavering efforts to reduce costs for middle-class Americans, repair a deteriorating infrastructure, and defend democracy from unprecedented threats. The message was clear: Biden’s work is not done, and Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz are ready to continue that fight.

       In the face of systemic challenges, the notion that “It’s always the darkest before the dawn” signifies hope and renewal during tough times. The metaphorical dawn represents the potential for significant change and a brighter future. Looking forward, we should honor the struggles of the past, the progress made, and the work that still lies ahead. Figures like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and historical icons serve as inspirations in the ongoing fight for equality and justice, guiding us towards a more inclusive society.

       New FAMU Interim President Dr. Timothy Beard wasted no time in making changes at FAMU, and he didn’t start small.  According to documents, Beard asked for the immediate resignation of members of the FAMU senior leadership team by the end of today.

The 2024-2025 school year has officially begun in Broward County, with 251,000 students enrolled in 239 public schools and 87 charter schools. This year, the district has implemented two significant changes to enhance safety and minimize distractions: metal detectors in all public high schools and restrictions on cell phone use.

       President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have launched “Time Is Money,” a government-wide initiative to stop the time-consuming practices used by corporations. The White House called the initiative a significant new effort to ease the daily frustrations that millions of Americans experience. The initiative targets the excessive paperwork, long hold times, and other bureaucratic hurdles that companies often impose, which waste people’s time and degrade their quality of life.
