The group said it’s proud  to endorse Harris’s “historic candidacy for president” and remains deeply committed to ensuring Democrats hold the White House.

     As soon as President Biden bowed out and passed the baton to Vice President Kamala Harris, Black folk started mobilizing. The movement was swift, phone calls, chats, fundraisers. Black people from all over started lining up behind her as the nation’s next leader, especially Black women and younger voters.

       The Faith Center’s Youth Department is excited to announce our annual “Impact Night” will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024. This year’s theme is “Think BIG (BOLD IN GOD)”.  We want to encourage youth to Think BIG and to use their gifts, talents, and influence in a meaningful way. There will be live music, bounce houses, games, back-to-school gift giveaways and more. Doors open for a pre-event activity at 5:30 p.m.  The main event begins at 7 p.m.

       This year marks the 55th Anniversary of the historic July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 Mission that placed the first man on the moon and safely returned Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins safely back to earth. We must also pay tribute to the brilliant work of mathematician, Katherine Johnson, the legendary African American woman at NASA, known as Woman of the 20th Century, who helped to calculate the trajectory for the successful Apollo 11 flight to the Moon, thereby helping to fulfill President John F. Kennedy’s mission to the Moon.

   “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our former women’s basketball student-athlete and GSU alumna, Jazmin Boyd,” Tigers athletic director Trayvean Scott said in a statement.  “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, teammates and all who were touched by her remarkable life.” We ask for everyone to keep the Boyd family in your prayers during this very difficult time.”

       The federal government’s proposal to reclassify marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3 has sparked debate over its impact on drug testing, especially in safety-sensitive jobs. Schedule 1 drugs lack accepted medical use and have a high potential for abuse. The process for a Controlled Substance Act rule change could take a year, and approval would not automatically end the federal ban on marijuana.
