Florida senators Monday evening moved forward with a proposal to try to prevent minors under age 16 from using social media, as lawmakers take on tech platforms that they say harm children.

     The comic “Color Line” was broken on July 31, 1969 with the introduction of Franklin Armstrong to the Peanuts family. Franklin was penned by the courage of Charles Schultz. Placing the first Black character was a big splash into the comic strip pool. The country had endured years of Civil Rights growing pains and it was debatable if it was ready for this subtle but unapologetic step toward integration.

     With the start of Black History Month, I brace myself for the mis-telling of Black History yet again.

     The city of Aurora, Colorado has reached a settlement of over $1 million with a Black mother and a group of young girls after police officers held them at gunpoint after a traffic stop three years ago.

      The “Official Snack Brand of Hip Hop” Rap Snacks, and one of the fastest-growing Consumer Packaged Goods (“CPG”) brands in the industry of food and beverage, hosted their 2nd annual 3-day Disrupt Summit from January 9 – 11, 2024 at the W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The “Disrupt Summit 2024: Where CPG Meets Culture,” brought together a community of CPG retailers, minority CEOs and executives in person to drive a broader strategic discussion around challenges and issues minorities face in the industry and equipped attendees with essential tools for staying competitive in today’s rapidly changing market.

     The Democratic Party, on the other hand, is asleep at the wheel.  When something goes wrong, they are purely reactionary and not very effective.  More importantly, when things are going well like most economic indicators in the United States, which signals effective leading of the country by President Biden, they are not good at promoting it.  It is allowed to be disseminated through normal media channels with no sense of urgency to the point where the average busy American will never see it.

     For those who are dismayed and disturbed by Israel’s disproportionate response to the Hamas atrocities on Oct. 7 last year, Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley and other progressive Senate Democrats are fighting their battle. They have been pushing for Senate action that would tie further US military aid to Israel on Israel’s adherence to international and US humanitarian law.

      Black women are the largest demographic in the Democratic Party, and they understand the importance of voting. Voting is a pledge of honor for Black women and their numbers are off the charts. On the other hand, Black men are the opposite and a large percentage think voting is a waste of time.

Fact-checking Trump’s claims about “Bidenomics” vs Trump’s record result in findings from “slightly exaggerated” to false, false, and more false. Campaigns are supposed to highlight candidates in their best lights, but not by lying. As we are learning from the civil case in New York, Trump’s routine practice is fraud and lies.
