   It’s beyond comprehension that former president Trump, indicted on felony charges for attempting to overturn the 2020 election results, is receiving treatment as though he’s entitled to presidential white privileges. One could easily conclude that this current felony charge is more egregious than had he faced charges of first-degree murder or as an accomplice to Jeffery Epstein. Despite displaying narcissism and exploiting unconstitutional white privileges, he’s spreading filthy lies as contemptible as filthy flies.

     Oh my God, the “Beloved Community”? No one talks about this – certainly not at the level of politics and national or global power. The point I’m struggling to make in this moment is that love – in the deepest possible meaning of the word– is more powerful than growling dogs and firehoses and jailcells. It is more powerful than burning crosses.  It is more powerful than 2,000-pound bombs. It is the force that is able to embrace conflict and transcend it – and it should be at the core of how we envision the human future.

     We’re in a tumultuous year, likely with more protests ahead. Conflict resolution experts say that these protests, these conflicts, are an opportunity for growth. People are invested and want to act. Understanding conflict phases and behaviors is a big help to turning conflict into moments of productive conversations rather than escalating anger.

Following a report from The New York Times that highlighted potential conflicts of interest for the conservative justices, MoveOn launched the petition

   Today’s announcement brings the total loan forgiveness approved by the Biden-Harris Administration to $167 billion for 4.75 million Americans. Thanks to this Administration’s efforts more than one out of every 10 federal student loan borrowers has now been approved for some debt relief. This action builds on President Biden and his Administration’s efforts to provide debt relief to as many borrowers as possible as quickly as possible.

     Beverly Pierre-Louis, a 78-year-old mother of six, died in 2021. After she passed, her children discovered something they didn’t know about their mom: she was a homeowner. She had two units in her name that the family said they weren’t aware of because she struggled with mental illness in her later years.

Cur’Dericka Rice, a 17-year-old African American girl from Monroe, Louisiana, graduated valedictorian with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a remarkable 33 on her ACT. What’s more, she earned nearly $1 million in scholarships from 13 universities.     

Given this, I recently received the honor to take a visit to the Kathleen C. Wright Administration Center, to speak with Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, the new leader in charge of guiding Broward County Public Schools into a brighter future. Conversing with him in his office allowed me to gain insight into Dr. Hepburn’s current and future goals and projects that will affect Broward County Public Schools educators, students, and the community.
