Demitris Mincey, a 2006 graduate of Dillard High School. has been chosen as its next football coach. Having been associated with this legendary program as a player and assistant coach should assist in making the transition from junior varsity – last year’s JV team was undefeated marked by a signature victory over St. Thomas Aquinas for the first time in over 10 year – a relatively smooth one.

     Blake Bolden is a scout for the Los Angeles Kings and former defenseman at Boston College from 2009-13. She was the first Black player to compete in the National Women’s Hockey League that was rebranded the Premier Hockey League in 2021 and won championships in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (2015) and NWHL (2016). She said it was amazing to witness a Black woman be nominated two years in a row and win the award.

     “Thanks to the strong leadership and support network provided by the 100 Black Men of Triangle East, young individuals are learning how to become successful leaders and active participants in the community,” said Sandra Coburn, SECU senior vice president. “We appreciate the impactful work they are doing, and we are so pleased to support their efforts.”

   America’s rise to become the most powerful Nation  on the planet resulted from  unparallel scientific, artistic, social, industrial, political, and educational  achievements. Yet, this blazing trail is fraught with abominable cruelty against Native Americans and Black people. White supremacists using their “Critically Authentic Ignorance,” (CAI), selectively deemed Native Americans and Black people respectively as savages and inferior.

Being one who is very offended by those who attempt to put all Black people in one lump sum, I will not do that to White people but the question has to be raised: Have Whites lost their minds?

     Where Augusta National Golf Club’s self-interest begins, a neighborhood’s legacy ends. When the deep-pocketed golf club became interested in adding nearby parking spaces, exorbitant amounts of money were used to entice all but one property owner to sell out the adjacent neighborhood.
