    Blanche Ely and Norland High School repeat as champs

    Blanche Ely Boy’s and Girls State Champs

         For the first time in either school’s history has this been done a repeat at state the championship and both claimed victories. Saturday night at the Lakeland Center Norland High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team captured their fourth title in eight years by defeating Pine Forest( Pensacola) 42- 30. Blanche Ely Tigers won their fourth state overall title with a 58- 50 victory over Orlando Evans in the Class 7A Boys’ Basketball Finals. In Broward County, Blanche Ely became the third Broward County school to win consecutive titles, joining Dillard(Fort Lauderdale) and Pine Crest(Fort Lauderdale). In Dade County Norland is the fourth Miami -Dade County School to win consecutive state titles, joining Miami High, Monsignor Pace and Northwest Christian.
