POMPANO BEACH, FL – Fostering connections between business women is the purpose of a group recently launched by the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce. The Women’s Leadership Connection is hosting their inaugural luncheon meeting on Aug. 23, 2013 noon, at the brand new Marriott Pompano Beach Oceanfront.

Melissa Rapkin, former chair of Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce and current Business Development Director at Brookdale Senior Living will be leading the new business group.

“By bringing high-powered speakers to our meetings, our goal is to educate and empower women in our community,” said Rapkin. “Fostering connections between knowledgeable, talented businesswomen will strengthen our whole community.”

Broward County’s top administrator, Bertha Henry, will be the first speaker for the group. A native of Miami who has worked in public administration for over 35 years, Mrs. Henry will draw on her experience as a leader during her presentation.

“We are honored that the guest speaker at our first meeting will be Mrs. Henry,” said Rapkin. “Mrs. Henry has been County Administrator since 2008 and the chief executive officer of Broward County, overseeing the operations for almost 60 agencies with 5,200 employees and carries a wealth of knowledge.”

To attend the Women’s Leadership Connection luncheon, please RSVP to info@pompanobeachchamber.com or call (954) 941-2940 for more information. Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased in advance either by calling (954) 941-2940 or online at www.pompanobeachchamber.com. None will be sold at the door.
