Only 33.5% of Black households owned stocks in 2019, according to data released recently by the Federal Reserve. Among white households, the ownership rate is nearly 61%. Hispanic and other minority households also are less likely than white families to own stock.
According to a recent Stay Informed report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center (NSCRC), Black student enrollment has dropped 7.5% among undergraduate students across the country. The biggest hit has been to public two-year colleges, where Black student enrollment is down 12.8%.
