In a letter to Florida Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees, Senator Darryl Rouson, (D) St. Petersburg said, “The impact of the coronavirus on African Americans in Florida, has yet to be revealed. Florida has been slow to act on this pandemic and I’m afraid Black people are suffering most. If that’s the case, we need to take the proper steps, and utilize the necessary resources to remedy the problem. But, we need to know the what the data says.”

I must say the food was delicious. After I was finished eating we stopped at a meat store and noticed there was a line because the staff was only letting seven people at a time inside the store. My neighborhood and I are both peaceful and abiding by the rules of social distancing and staying home.

COVID-19: The Danger for the Youth
This lawsuit seeks the immediate release of all medically vulnerable people from the Metro West Detention Center. For those who remain in the jail, the lawsuit asks a federal judge to order the City of Miami and Metro West jail to immediately adopt the comprehensive measures outlined by the Center for Disease Control to protect the safety and health of those people inside the jail.
Today, Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony provided details on what the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) is doing to ensure the safety of its personnel and the public it serves. Regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Sheriff Tony explained that all deputies have PPE and if they require any extra PPE during a shift, it is provided accordingly. BSO dispatchers are asking a series of questions to identify possible COVID-19 cases before BSO arrives on the scene. That information is relayed to first responders so that they can use the appropriate PPE gear for the call. Additionally, BSO’s civilian staffers are working from home when practical and possible. All employees are screened prior to entering any BSO facility, and work areas are being cleaned on an enhanced schedule.
