Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy – the right to make decisions about if, and when, to have a child, how to bring up a child, as well as a safe and sustainable environment to raise that child. As we celebrate Black History Month and Women’s History Month, we also honor the reproductive justice movement, developed by Black feminists in the 1990s that continues to be led by communities of color today.

     The Andersons’ lives were spared, and their small brick home was left standing. But in a small Delta town of about 2,000 people, hardly anyone escaped the storm without losing someone they knew or loved. As rescue and recovery crews poured into town, James Anderson learned that his fiancĂ©e’s adult daughter, April Johnson, was one of at least 26 people killed in the storm. She’d been working at the local Family Dollar when the roof collapsed, Anderson said.

    The American story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of us. I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I’m proud to present you with the President’s Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of your 4,200 hours of service to this great Nation.

      On a cool star-studded evening at the Arden Theater Company, one of Philadelphia’s premier theaters, hosted the Blues Babe 16th Foundation Anniversary.  The Blues Babe Foundations (BBF) is the brainchild of soulful sultry (sensuous) singer / poet, Jill Scott.  The life she has lived has inspired her to help young children make dreams happen through education and the arts.
