     Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms started her job at the White House this week, replacing Cedric Richmond as the head of the Office of Public Engagement.

     There are many Black candidates running statewide across the U.S. this year in primaries and in general election contests. The year of 2022 will prove to be a major test of the electability of Black statewide candidates as issues around voting rights and justice reform, confront the steady emergence of white supremacy in U.S. politics.

     Speakers at the conference included Dietra Trent, executive director of the White House Initiative on HBCUs; Byna Elliott, Head of Advancing Black Pathways at JPMorgan & Chase Co.; and Naomi Shelton, CEO of the National Charter Collaborative.

“Stripping away a woman’s right to safe, legal abortion and to make our own health care decisions will have especially dire consequences for Black women and women of color across our country,” said Jessica Knight Henry, Deputy, and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

     Following a first-day chairman’s reception, Black Press publishers got down to business, officially kicking off the four-day conference by providing a platform for a new generation.

      Shy Santiago, a language influencer, a homeschooling mother of 9, and the founder and CEO of Learn A Language 4 Fun, has continued to create more beginner-level bilingual books for children learning Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Swahili, and more. Based in Euclid, Ohio, her books not only teach the basics of different languages but also now include the profiles of multiple professionals from around the world. While writing these books, Ms. Santiago decided to collaborate with various business owners to feature to create a way that will provide Black children with images that reflect who they are while learning multiple languages.

Former President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again cry proved an easy between-the-lines moniker, but even that stood as a dog whistle – until now.

The “It Takes A Village (ITAV): Basics of Boyhood and Messages for Manhood” initiative has announced the opening of its new exhibit, “Framing Fatherhood,” which highlights and celebrates positive images of Black fatherhood and masculinity. The photo exhibit features 75 different photographs from prominent Black male photographers while showcasing Black men across generations. The goal is to take an intentional look into the way social media impacts public perception of Black men and impacts the mental health of content creators and the larger Black community.

On July 12, 2022, the trailblazing women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will celebrate 100 Years of greater excellence exemplifying their success in service and leadership across the globe. The celebration begins January 1, 2022, in New York City as they kick off their centennial with a royal affair culminating the final year in their journey to 100.

     With a record number of women of color representing the administration in various capacities, Harris asserted that “when people hold office reflect those impacted, we can effect change.”
