Milwaukee voted to approve a settlement of a federal lawsuit brought against the city by a group of Black and Latinx Milwaukee residents, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Wisconsin, and the law firm of Covington & Burling LLP. Collins v. City of Milwaukee challenged the Milwaukee Police Department’s vast and unconstitutional stop-and-frisk program.

The federal government has reopened its investigation into the slaying of Emmett Till, the Black teenager whose brutal killing in Mississippi shocked the world and helped inspire the civil rights movement more than 60 years ago.

     The Huffington Post reports that a prosecutor in San Bernardino has been suspended following a series of social media attacks directed towards Maxine Waters, Michelle Obama, and others. Michael Selyem, the lead gang prosecutor for the county district attorney’s office, is currently under investigation, according to an official statement by authorities. The posts were brought to their attention following staff complaints.
