     The Biden-Harris Administration believes that education beyond high school will unlock doors to opportunity. Biden and Harris have been working to fix the broken student loan system, and make college more affordable. On August 22, 2023, the administration announced the official launch of, ”The Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan.”

     Whoever would have thought fossil fuel industry front groups would make whales and other marine species a cultural wedge issue? However, thanks to a deception campaign targeting wind energy that’s exactly where we find ourselves.

Changing the World with Fire and Love

     In the United States, we don’t need dictators telling us what’s what (though we certainly have plenty of aspirants). We have our own self-imposed blinkers on truth—what Noam Chomsky calls “manufactured consent.” We happily go along with the presumption that our way of life will dissolve unless we keep the military-industrial-political-journalistic-full-spectrum-dominance juggernaut moving “forward.”

     The moral courage of Airman Bushnell stands in sharp distinction to the many moral cowards, myself included, who seek ethical cover by “voting for the lesser of two evils” for Commander in Chief of the Empire’s War Machine. I was reading Fritz Thyssen’s book, “I Paid Hitler,” when I first learned of Bushnell’s manifest refusal to follow illegal, criminal, orders to aid and abet genocide in Gaza, a crime against humanity conducted on the ground by Israel but largely paid for by US taxpayers and supported by the US Air Force.

     Aghast at the use of nuclear weapons in August 1945 to obliterate the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Einstein threw himself into efforts to prevent worldwide nuclear annihilation. In September, responding to a letter from Robert Hutchins, Chancellor of the University of Chicago, about nuclear weapons, Einstein contended that, “as long as nations demand unrestricted sovereignty, we shall undoubtedly be faced with still bigger wars, fought with bigger and technologically more advanced weapons.”

     It’s possible. Research shows that we are so divided into our tribes that we don’t really know each other. One study found Republicans believed 30 percent of Democrats are atheist or agnostic. The reality? Only eight percent of Democrats identified that way. Democrats believed that 38 percent of Republicans earn more than $250,000. The facts? Only two percent did.

     Immediately after taking office in 2021, President Joe Biden committed to supporting minority populations by adopting an executive order promoting environmental and economic justice. In his order, the president pledged, “To secure an equitable economic future, the United States must ensure that environmental and economic justice are key considerations in how we govern.” In our Glades communities, which are so heavily dependent on jobs in agriculture, it seems recent federal actions related to providing water for our local businesses may conflict with the president’s ambitious goals.

     Worse yet, the so-called mainstream media went berserk with the story. When he first ran, they’d asked: Is Biden too old to run? Since he won, they’ve asked: Is he too old to run again? Next, I guess, the question will be: When will he die?

   America has devolved into a Fascists nation under the leadership of former president Trump,  Hitler’s protégé.  This dismantling isn’t  due entirely to the emergence of  Trump. Rather, it’s aided by the white supremacy ideology which remains a central core of America’s democracy.
