Biden must avoid becoming a political pawn before he can accomplish the other items on his slate. Collins Dictionary defines pawn as an individual used by others for their own advantage. Consequently, it’s important to identify those who’ve attempted to snarl Biden as their political pawn.
Well, maybe there will be consequences later (and maybe not), but for the moment you have overcome your own moral barriers and can start doing your job as a soldier: killing people. And in the process, you are making the world – your world, not theirs – safe. War is such a paradox: killing one’s way to peace. But apparently it’s humanity’s primary organizing principle.
Fruits of our labors
Data from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City shows that more than 13 percent of African American men between the ages 45 and 79 will develop prostate cancer in their lifetimes. And Black men have a 70 percent higher rate of developing prostate cancer than White men. The American Cancer Society also shockingly predicts that Black men are more than twice as likely to die from prostate cancer than their White counterparts.
The Dusseldorf audience gave Ionesco’s “Rhinoceros” a 10-minute standing ovation, and in the years that followed, the play made its way to Paris, London, New York, and other cities around the world. Sixty-five years later, “Rhinoceros” remains a play for our time – perhaps more so than ever – serving as both a warning and a goad to a nation in political crisis.
These are just a few of the many incredible women of BSO who are trailblazers and role models for the leaders of tomorrow. I am honored to work alongside them. Their service and dedication to keeping our communities safe are a true inspiration.
In every Florida city, there’s so much potential to empower strong communities through positive change and the people who live there. Though the need for volunteer help has never been greater, the number of Americans who formally volunteer has continued to decline, according to the Census Bureau. It’s time to reverse that trend in our state – and we can all play a role.
SCOTUS unanimously decided to resuscitate Trump’s political life. Does this not metaphorically resemble Frankenstein’s horrific creation? They did this despite knowing he overtly and covertly supported the January 6th insurrection. Just as Frankenstein’s actions led to deaths and destruction, so did Trump’s attempts to overthrow the government.
The drug cartels control Reynosa. The part we are in, the outskirts, the impoverished and desperate part, is not safe for anyone, especially immigrants trying to cross the border. To the drug cartels, immigrants are commodities. Money in human form. We witness scores of people who were trafficked, kidnapped and extorted, the children used as drug mules and the women and men gang-raped.
