Track 1 is a Hamas hostage release in exchange for a time-limited cease-fire and Israel’s release of Palestinian prisoners. Hamas is demanding a permanent cease-fire, not simply a pause. A deal that includes the release of some hostages and some prisoners seems most likely. Pres. Biden has sent the CIA director, William Burns, to the Middle East to move the negotiations along.
It shows just how much the world has been changed by the unfiltered immediacy of camera phones and social media that Israeli propaganda seems much clumsier and is clearly less influential than it’s been in the past.
Like it or not, our world has become so interconnected and interdependent that events that have hitherto been regarded as regional in nature now threaten our well-being everywhere.
Although, according to the UN Charter, the United Nations was established to “maintain international peace and security,” it has often fallen short of this goal. Russia’s ongoing military invasion of Ukraine and the more recent Israeli-Palestinian war in Gaza provide the latest examples of the world organization’s frequent paralysis in the face of violent international conflict.
It’s no secret the twice-impeached President, who is facing nearly 100 criminal charges in various courts in multiple states, is seeking to stay out of prison by lying to voters, parroting dictators and authoritarians and hoping to generate votes to win the 2024 Presidential Election. If victorious, Trump will continue to follow orders from foreign assets and political leaders to divide Americans and destroy democracy.

Avoiding the lessons of history is one of the surest ways to repeat the mistakes of once great, yet fallen, empires. These history lessons, ever so plainly, provide incredible information as to the reasons for the perilous fate of these empires. Simply put, these lessons are like a restaurant’s menu containing foods to avoid if you don’t want to suffer a perilous fate. Consequently, governing with a blind eye to history, America’s former president Trump and the Republican Confederacy are attempting to destroy democracy one institution at a time.
Religion has always been at odds with the founding principles, for religions usually deny liberty, equality, and democracy. Religions are mostly autocratic, require strict adherence to doctrine and resist racial and gender equality. Even so, religions had abided American democracy, satisfied with a constitutional guarantee of religious freedom. For Christian fundamentalists that is no longer true. They seek to supplant American values with religious views.
The Democrats are having a hot streak with the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) with a win from Florida Democrat candidate Tom Keen. This secured the first state legislative flip of the year and beat the odds that we could win. The Democrats are excited with this win on a local/state level, and this is the mission of the DLCC.
