B-CU and FAMU at the top of MEAC’s early standings

It’s a month into the college football season but Florida’s two largest HBCUs are playing well. Bethune-Cookman University (4-1, 2-0) and Florida A&M University (4-1, 2-0) currently sit atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standings heading into week 7 (Oct. 10-12) of the college football season.

Legendary Olympic Athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos Earn Induction into U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame

Their selection to the Hall of Fame, an honor based on character, conduct, and off-field contributions, comes 51 years after the U.S. Olympic Committee — and much of White America — vilified the heroes. “It sends the message that maybe we had to go back in time and make some conscious decisions about whether we were right or wrong,” Carlos told USA Today. “They’ve come to the conclusion that, ‘Hey man, we were wrong. We were off base in terms of humanity relative to the human rights era.’”

Dolphins Fall 0-4 against the Chargers

With this Sunday’s lost, the Dolphins now fall to 0-4 for the season. The Chargers came into the game at 1-2, which gave the Dolphins a chance to get their first win of the season.  It was a close first half, but then all hell broke loose in the second half.

NBA All-Star Steph Curry Kick Starts New Division I Golf Program at Howard University

     “Golf is a sport that has changed my life in ways that are less tangible but just as impactful,” Curry said. “It’s a discipline that challenges your mental wherewithal from patience to focus and is impossible to truly master. So, when you hear about these passionate student athletes who have the talent but don’t have a fair shot at the game, it’s tough. I feel really honored to play a small role in the rich history of Howard University and look forward to building their first men’s and women’s golf teams with them.”
