The Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 30-0 in a game played Sunday at Hardrock Stadium. They appeared to be a team chomping at the bit to exact revenge or at least prove that last week’s debacle against the Tennessee Titans was an aberration, not the present number two seed in the AFC after summarily dispensing of a Jets team that is simply put – a shell of itself.
The Fort Valley State University Wildcats defeated the determined but youthful Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls 23-10 in the inaugural Florida Beach Bowl played at magnificently appointed Drv-PK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Both teams entered the contest with identical 7-3 won/loss records.

During last week’s NFL game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers, history was made with the first all-Black on-field and replay officiating crew, which included three women. The officiating crew included Maia Chaka, who served as the line judge; Artenzia Young-Seigler, the replay official; and Desiree Abrams, the replay assistant. The crew called a combined ten penalties for 95 yards in the game.
The second Black baseball player to break the major league’s color barrier posthumously received the Congressional Gold Medal on what would have been his 100th birthday.
