Pfizer/BioNTech awaits authorization of a Covid-19 vaccine for kids younger than 12.

In a matter of days, the company will submit data on children ages 5 to 11 to the FDA for consideration.

Almost 26% of all Covid-19 cases nationwide have been in children according to American Academy of Pediatrics. Additionally, about 266 children were hospitalized every day last week, US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) data stated.

When the data from Pfizer/BioNTech gets sent in, it will go through the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CDC.

Once the vaccine becomes available that will be half of the battle, but you will also have to get those children that are eligible vaccinated.

Only less than half of US adolescents are fully vaccinated.

However, until this vaccination is authorized by the FDA and CDC, it is recommended to continue mask wearing for students, teachers and guests in schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
