The evening of Friday, April 19, 2013 will be a memorable occasion in the lives of girls ages 7-8 as they take center stage at the Renaissance Hotel in Plantation.  Impact Girls, an early-intervention program spearheaded at Dillard Elementary, is designed to advocate for girls and to provide an oasis of gender-based programs to empower girls to dynamically pursue their potential, to heartily strive for ongoing academic excellence, and to make “good-for-me” lifestyle choices, while cultivating a generation of leaders.

Afterschool not Afterstreets is the newly embraced reality for many girls. Girls are launched into dreams and possibilities they thought were for other children. Local businesses, organizations, schools of higher learning, and leaders have demonstrated their support for Impact Girls since its conception in September 2012.

Dr. Cassann Blake of the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic will present the keynote address. Also featured will be charismatic saxophonist and recording artist, Randy Corinthian, CEO of RC Music Group.

Blake is a cum laude graduate of Howard University and a graduate of Harvard University. Her most rewarding work is helping women with breast cancer.

Dr. Blake was named the Top Doc in Detroit by Hour Detroit Magazine. As Director of the breast program at Cleveland Clinic Florida, Cleveland Clinic Florida became the first accredited breast center in Broward County. Dr. Blake was honored by the South Florida Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award in 2011 for her professional success and community involvement.

Saxophonist, Randy Corinthian will be the innovative instrumentalist for the gala event. His “Bittersweet” album, a melting pot consisting of Jazz, Gospel, and Reggae was re-leased in January of 2013.

Randy Corinthian has shared the stage with Ellis Marsalis, Victor Goines, Ron Isley, Mike Phillips, Rick Watford, and Alex Bugnon. His music has been featured on MTV, VH1, The Black Family Channel, and BET Networks. In 2012, Randy was honored by Legacy Magazine as one of South Florida’s 40 under 40 Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow.
