The Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF) gave us our first look into “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”, a Peacock Original limited series that airs this Thursday, September 5th.
Executively produced by Will Packer Productions, Fight Night is a limited tv series based on a true story that happened in 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia. Focused on events that occured that night, boxing champ Muhammad Ali was sanctioned to fight for the first time since his suspension after he refused to serve in the Vietnam war.
“Fight Night” was one of the closing shows during MVAAFF closing night on the Vineyard, and Will Packer didn’t disappoint!
Atlanta was well represented throughout the MVAAFF and during the showing of “Fight Night”, you could see how much. The lines to enter the closing night film stretched to the parking lot of the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center and once you entered the venue, you were met with the best soul and hip hop music, compliments of DJ Trauma; The organizers, Floyd & Stephanie Rance welcomed the audience and acknowledged their sponsors before turning the spotlight over to Will Packer and a few of his all-star cast members.
Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, Chloe Bailey, along with Packer, all participated in a talkback with journalist Tiffany D. Cross, after viewing the series.
The cast shared their experience about their role and thoughts on the reality based production, along with the differences in characters they’ve played in the past. Based on what was seen during the MVAAFF and what Taràji Henson shares about Chloe Bailey’s role, the anticipation will be high.
