TALLAHASSEE, FL – The first home game of Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) 2012 football season will include an enhanced experience with a special halftime performance by recording artist, FUTURE. With one of the most played songs on urban radio, FUTURE will kick off the football season as the university celebrates its 125th year anniversary.

FUTURE will also host a meet and greet for winners of a promotional contest expected to get fans and supporters of FAMU football excited about the upcoming season.

”We are very excited about the 2012 football season and the talent we have seen in our team,” said Derek Horne, FAMU athletics director. “This is an exciting time for FAMU football, and the Athletics program has created an energetic and vibrant halftime production to give fans and supporters a spectacular experience. Having FUTURE perform at the first home game sets the tone of what fans can expect throughout the entire season.”

In addition to FUTURE’s halftime performance, the entire game experience will be enhanced with an Old School vs. New School DJ battle. DJ Demp, popular among FAMU alumni, will represent for the New School while DJ Neaux out of Atlanta accompanied by DJ Will ‘Power’ Packer of Rainforest Films will represent for the Old School.  Packer is a FAMU alumnus that has now gone on to produce major motion picture films like Stomp the Yard, Obsessed and most recently Think Like a Man, among others. Local radio personality, Joe Bullard, will serve as the game’s MC and keep the energy and excitement level high among game attendees.

In celebration of the university’s 125th anniversary, the FAMU Athletics program takes on a brand new energy this season unveiling a new theme – “Our Team, Our Time. Respect the Game.” Each game this football season is enhanced to include a special halftime experience from major recording artists but the talent lineup for the entire season is tightlipped for now. In addition to the game experience, FAMU Athletics is partnering with Visit Tallahassee to create sports travel packages that includes hotel stay and a game ticket.

Opponents for this year’s home games include Hampton University as the opening game on Sept. 15, Savannah State University on Oct. 13, South Carolina State University on Oct. 20, and the homecoming game celebrating FAMU’s 125th anniversary on Nov. 10 against North Carolina Central University.
