On Thursday, October 10, 2011, Dr. Jaffus Hardrick, President, along with Dr. Adrianne Cooper, Provost, and Associate Provost, Dr. Tamika Hobbs, honored the largest group of students who earned the distinction of making the Honor Roll, the Dean’s List, Honor’s Programs and Honor Societies at Florida Memorial University to date.
Yulianna Charris Gomez, a senior, originally from Venezuela, received the most awards. Her story resonates because Julianna arrived in South Florida as a freshman at FMU four years ago and didn’t speak English. Her success is attributed to her faculty and classmates, who coached and supported her.
“We have an increased number of students who are performing exceptionally. The President’s Honor’s List has doubled! Students are doing extremely well academically and are more focused on maintaining a high academic record,” states Dr. Randy James, Honors Program Director and Associate Professor, English.
